Chesterton High School Kicks Off Work Ethic Initiative

A positive showing of students at Chesterton High School assembled Wednesday morning, August 29, 2018, to hear about participating in the school’s Work Ethic Certificate Program. The Work Ethic Certificate is a credential that validates a student has knowledge of skills, abilities, and commitment to work, while the develop needed behavioral characteristics that are expected by employers in our emerging workforce. Criteria to obtain the certificate include showing a positive attitude, working well with others, following directions, arrives to school on time, recognizes problems and finds solutions, manages times effectively, applies good listening skills, is honest and dependable, knows the need to pass a drug or background check, dresses properly and practices good hygiene, good attendance, and demonstrates the outlined criteria through community service.


The Center of Workforce Innovations (CWI) together with the Northwest Indiana Workforce Board (NWIWB) help drive the Work Ethic initiative in the region and provide the schools with established criteria to incorporate work ethic into their school curriculum and/or activities.
